Thanks for your feedback
Several of our newsletter

shopping schedule for organic fruits really helpful.
As a result, we've
updated the schedule based on the current market conditions
- you can find it in the column to the right. And, if
you missed last week's article, you can still find it on the

"Personal-size" watermelons
As you can see, one of
the items in the shopping schedule for this week is organic
watermelon. (Ok, so this is not earth-shaking news.)
But there is a new
"version" of organic watermelon from Goodness Greeness that
is absolutely delicious and is much more convenient to buy,
to tote home, to store in the fridge, to carry to the table
(and back) and to serve. This is earth-shaking news!
This new version is a
baby (also called mini) watermelon - or what we prefer to call the
"personal-size" watermelon. Grown in Mexico at this
time of year, this year's crop is unusually sweet and tasty.
Our personal-size
watermelons weigh about two to two and a half pounds and fit
in your palm (unless you are Michael Jordan, in which case
you can fit two). They are sweet, red-fleshed
watermelons, available either with seeds or seedless.
They are now running about $3.50 to $4.00 a pop in the
Chicago-area retail stores.
If you haven't tried them
before, now is the ideal time to do it. For that
matter, even if you have tried them before, now is a great
time to buy them. We think you'll enjoy the
convenience and love the flavor of personal-size
watermelons. And let us know what you think.
Fruit
kabob
Are you having guests
over for dinner on Mother's Day? Here's an idea to
help you round out your meal, while helping your guests
"cleanse the pallette" after the main dish. Right
after your main meal, try serving a light, organic fruit
snack that's easy to prepare and serve and is lot's of fun
to eat.
This snack is the fruit
kabob.
Did I say that they are
easy to prepare? First, cut open and cube larger
organic fruits, like pineapple, personal-size watermelons
and honeydew melons. Place the cubes, intermixed with
whole organic strawberries, on a skewer, alternating colors
for an attractive presentation.
Place the skewers on a
platter, cover (to keep the fruit from drying out) and chill
during dinner. Serve on the platter and have plenty of
napkins ready - the fruit kabob can be juicy. And
don't be surprised if they go quickly (how 'bout a second
platter, just in case).
